Gunmen massacre 21 in Philippines election violence

At least 21 people have been killed in the southern Philippines in a massacre that has shocked a country almost inured to election violence.

The victims, 13 women and eight men, were found in southern Ampatuan township, three miles from where they were taken hostage as they travelled in three vans earlier today, regional army commanders said.
