Al-Qaeda sources have indicated that reports of the death of its head of military operations in Yemen are correct.

Qassim al-Rimi, also known as Abu Hurayrah, was reported to have been among six suspected terrorists killed in an air strike that targeted two cars on Friday.

The Yemen government today claimed that al-Rimi’s death has been confirmed and called upon other al-Qaeda operatives to surrender themselves and their weapons.

Troops are currently hunting for two members who escaped, a statement added.
