The Metropolitan Police Service has launched an investigation into events at a conference organised by the controversial Islamic preacher Anjem Choudary.

The probe is understood to centre on a meeting held in London last month which saw him sharing a platform with two convicted terrorists.

Video footage of the gathering shows Choudary saying: “…when we were thinking about doing this conference, we thought about a few different titles and some of them were: ‘Innocent Until Proven Muslim’, one of them was called ‘The Nazi Concentration Camps of Adolf Brown’, and the other one was ‘Hate, Not Great Britain’.”

Membership of Choudary’s groups – including Al-Muhajiroun, Islam4UK, Islamic Path, Call to Submission, and the London School of Sharia – were proscribed this week in an order laid before Parliament.
