The US is hunting al-Qaeda militants in North Africa with the aid of spy planes launched from southern Spain, it has been claimed.

Al-Qaeda supporters said that the US military is regularly flying a P-3 Orion reconnaissance aircraft over the region for ten hours every day.

A message names the Spanish air base where the flights allegedly originate from and even gives map co-ordinates that detail the aircraft’s movements.
