Boeing has announced that it has successfully destroyed several drone aircraft during tests of a mobile laser weapon.

The company said the system took out five unmanned aerial vehicles at the US Naval Air Warfare Center in China Lake in California, USA.

The Mobile Active Targeting Resource for Integrated eXperiments (MATRIX) was developed by the company under contract to the US Air Force Research Laboratory.
